Name the Bar/Blessing of the Fleet

Monday, July 31st 2017

Throughout the year, Keys Fisheries allows customers to submit their ideas for what they think the new name of the tiki bar should be for the upcoming year. Each entry costs $1 and allows the customer to draw up the name and the art that they would like to submit for the naming of the bar. On Monday, July 31st 2017, the winning submission will be picked and the new name of the bar will be announced. All of the money that gets collected for this cause is donated to a local charity. Last year, Keys Fisheries decided to donate the money to the Heart of the Keys Recreation Center, which helped to fund afterschool activities for the youth of Marathon.

Along with the naming of the bar, Keys Fisheries will also be kicking off the start of the 2016 lobster season by blessing our fleet of lobster fisherman as they set sail to lay their traps at midnight. Last year, there was a live broadcast of the event, fireworks and a lot of laughs and good times.

Come out and join us for these two great causes!

Stone Crab Eating Contest

Saturday, October 21st, 2017. Registration starts at 11am and contest begins at 12pm.

In honor of the start of Stone Crab Season, Keys Fisheries is proud to announce that we will be hosting our 7th annual Stone Crab Eating Contest, which proceeds benefit to the Marathon Recreation Center. Last year’s event was a success, with many local businesses contributing to the prizes won by our contestants. Some of the prizes included complimentary stays at hotels, gift cards to restaurants and day passes to some of the most popular attractions in the keys. If you think you have what it takes to be the fastest individual or teammate to crack and eat 25 stone crab claws, you can download the registration form online and send it in to the restaurant.
